Worker killed in construction accident at new stadium

| Jun 17, 2013 | Construction Workers' Accidents

Whenever there is a large construction project, it is common that there will be workers from several different companies present at the jobsite. These employees all have their own specific tasks that they need to perform. To ensure that the project is completed safely, it is important that all of these individuals communicate with one another.

Recently, a worker was killed on a construction site accident in California. The individual was working on construction of the new San Francisco 49ers stadium when the accident happened. It stresses once again how dangerous these jobsites can be when so many different groups of people are present.

The worker who was killed was an elevator mechanic who was working at the bottom of an elevator shaft. The man was standing on a ladder when he was struck by a counterweight from the elevator, which another employee apparently had started to use. This employee was apparently unaware of the work being performed on the elevator at this time.

The employee killed was working for a subcontractor hired to work at the stadium. This company had received fines in the past after a different employed had fallen and been seriously injured at another job site. The accident remains under review to determine what actually happened. Once the official causes are learned, officials at the site will need to take steps to ensure that these problems will not happen in the future.

Construction workers are faced with dangerous situations nearly every single day on the job. Those who have been injured in these accidents should speak with an experienced workers’ compensation attorney to learn more about the compensation that may be available. Families of loved ones killed in these accidents may also be able to receive benefits for their loss.
