Worker killed in tragic Pasadena accident

When construction teams are working on roads or the highway, it's important for drivers to be aware and make sure they don't cause an accident. Speeding, not merging in time and other negligent acts can lead to serious, life-threatening accidents like this one that cost a man his life.

A construction worker was killed when he was involved in a traffic accident. According to news out of Pasadena, Maryland, the crash occurred on Fort Smallwood Road near the Hillcreek Road intersection. It was around 12:50 p.m. when the collision took place.

The lanes on the road had been reduced down to one as a result of construction activity. A Jeep heading southeast toward Hillcreek struck a worker who was helping to control traffic. The worker was in the middle of the road with a stop/slow sign.

The preliminary findings show that the cause of the crash was excessive speed and failing to following the traffic directions. The driver did remain at the scene, where the worker was pronounced dead once emergency teams arrived. The worker, a 58-year-old man, was from Baltimore. The driver of the Jeep, a 32-year-old man, may face charges.

As the family of a loved one who has been killed or badly injured, you need to know your legal rights. You can seek out compensation through workers' compensation to help you cover medical expenses, funeral costs and other financial losses. Workplace accidents are an unfortunate reality, and it's important that you aren't saddled with the burden of your loved one's death or serious injury without the financial support you need.
