Industrial industry injuries resulting from physical labor

Most industrial workers realize the importance of their job. They also realize they are at risk of injury due to the nature of the work.

Any job in which physical labor is a regular occurrence increases the potential of injury. For this reason, both workers and employers must become familiar with common accidents and injuries. Furthermore, they should recognize how accidents can be prevented and how injuries can be treated.

Industrial workers often times suffer injuries related to repetitive motion and overexertion. These can include:

-- Joint and muscle damage as the result of repetitive use.

-- Heat stress due to spending too much time in hot conditions. This can cause damage to the heart, kidneys and brain. In the most serious of conditions, heat stress can lead to death.

-- Hypothermia. The opposite of heat stress, this occurs when a worker spends too much time in a cold environment. Hypothermia and frostbite are extremely dangerous, with the possibility of losing toes and fingers.

Industrial companies have a responsibility to keep employees safe at all times. Even so, this is not always possible for a number of reasons. For example, the task of doing the same job, time and time again, could result in injury.

There is nothing easy about a job that requires regular physical labor, especially in extremely hot or cold conditions. Some industrial workers are never injured, while others seem to run into trouble time after time. If a person in this field is injured or becomes ill as the result of his or her employment, it could lead to a workers' compensation claim and potential lawsuit.
