Worker killed when tractor tire blows up in his face

It might seem as though winter is a less dangerous time for Maryland workers. After all, many fatalities to people employed in dangerous vocations such as construction occur during warm-weather months, when construction work is easier to manage. However, in reality, industrial accidents can happen at any time of the year.

A man in western Maryland suffered a fatal on-the-job injury earlier this month. At the time of the accident, the man was inflating one of the tires on a tractor. The tire exploded, critically injuring the 31-year-old worker. He was taken to a nearby hospital, but his injuries were too severe to save him.

It wasn't immediately clear what caused the accident -- if it was due to an error on the part of the worker, a defect in the tire, or improper instruction on the part of the man's employer. That explanation is going to be crucial, but at this point, the man's family is more concerned with the immediate aftermath of his death.

Depending on the circumstances of a worker's death, the employee's family might be able to receive compensation for his loss. If a defective product is at fault, the manufacturer might be held liable; if it was due to wrongdoing on the part of the employer, then a wrongful death claim against the company might be in order. Regardless of what happened, many families turn to experienced workplace injury attorneys to help them with their cases and advise them of the most beneficial course of action.
