One Example Of Our Professional Commitment: The MWCEA
A good example of our professionalism and leadership in our state’s workers’ comp community is our active role in the Maryland Workers’ Compensation Education Association. The MWCEA is a nonprofit organization that provides a forum for communication among the various stakeholders in the workers’ comp system.
These stakeholders start, of course, with employees, employers and insurance companies. Other stakeholders include attorneys, doctors and other medical professionals, providers of rehabilitation services, state officials and program administrators.
The MWCEA holds an annual conference to promote dialogue about how to make the system work better so injured workers get appropriate compensation; concerns of the other stakeholders are addressed as well.
Our Firm’s Role In The MWCEA
Our lawyers are very involved in the MWCEA. Alex Katzenberg has been an MWCEA board of director’s member for many years and served as program chairman for last year’s annual conference. In 2016, Alex will step in as president of MWCEA. Mark Snyder is a past president of MWCEA and current board member.
We are closely involved in planning the educational program for the conference. This program includes three days of presentations and workshops on topics such as workers’ comp claims procedure, medical issues and vocational rehabilitation.
